The Smashing Pumpkins' brand new album Oceania (released June 19th) has debuted on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart at #4. It also earned the #1 spot on the Independent Albums Chart, and is the second highest debuting independent album this year. In addition to the positive reception from fans, Oceania is also being praised by critics with glowing reviews from Los Angeles Times, Chicago Sun-Times, Washington Post, and more.
Marking The Smashing Pumpkins' 7th studio record, Oceania is "an album within an album," part of their 44-song work-in-progress entitled Teargarden by Kaleidyscope. It was recorded at singer/guitarist Billy Corgan's private studio in Chicago with his band mates (guitarist Jeff Schroeder, drummer Mike Byrne, and bassist/vocalist Nicole Fiorentino), and was produced by Corgan and Bjorn Thorsrud with mixing by David Bottrill.
